Total EMIs reaching 62% of salary – How to approach debt consolidation without triggering CIBIL red flags?
Hi all, I am in a tight spot with my monthly debt obligations and need advice from folks who have successfully restructured or consolidated multiple loans. My take-home salary is ₹95,000/month, but my combined monthly EMIs have hit ₹59,200 across three active loans (1 car loan and 2 personal loans, totaling about ₹11.5 Lakhs in outstanding principal). While I have never missed or delayed a single payment and have a clean CIBIL score (750+), this ~62% FOIR is leaving zero margin for basic savings or family emergencies. I want to consolidate these into a single loan with a 5-year tenure to bring the monthly outgo down to around ₹25,000 (~27% FOIR). Could someone explain: With an existing FOIR already above 60%, will banks flat-out reject a new consolidation loan application, or is there a standard process where existing EMIs are discounted if the new loan directly closes them? Is it better to negotiate internally with my primary salary bank, or apply for a balance-transfer/takeover loan with another lender? How do I make sure this is processed strictly as a regular loan closure and avoid tags like "Restructured", "Settled", or "Rescheduled" on my CIBIL report? Would really appreciate a detailed breakdown of how to navigate this safely.
